found a replacement DVD Drive that works! only disadvantage is that it seems to read mp3 disks with maximum speed again :-(

2002-05 Update:
While a Summerlightening the CD-Rom Drive stops working forerver.
I tried to replace it, but it seems that the Firmware just accept the original CD/DVD Drive (now it has some "disfunctions" like not ejecting CD's, playing at full (40x) Speed etc..)

guess, this is the solution:

inexpensive (about 500.-DM / 250 €);
Easy to use

All state-of-the-art Sound Formats (Dolby, Dolby Dig. etc.)

in this price category it has an very good picture quality (except in some dark scenes)

The only (imho) disadvantage is the loud DVD Drive playing MP3 CD's uhh, it's really not funny, especially in silent passages of music, -- it read them with full speed (I think about 40x), but one solution is to use CD-RW instead of CD-R to slow down. (Other people recommend funny things like scratching or painting the CD. Remember: this problem only occurs with MP3 files.
